Rights for nature

The Party for the Animals wants more space for nature and biodiversity. Unfortunately, the reality is often different. Nature and the climate, the basis of our existence, are vulnerable. The future of our Earth is at stake. We cannot do without nature, which is why we as a municipality are taking measures to protect our nature.

Nature, such as the Dommel river or the golden oriole, deserves a voice and a place at the negotiating table. We recognise the principles of rights for nature and in Eindhoven, as in other countries, we recognise those rights. By appointing an expert as guardian, they represent the voice of nature and all living creatures within it.

Eindhoven recognises ecocide – the large-scale damage, destruction or loss of nature and ecosystems – and is committed to preventing this within its territory. Eindhoven is therefore signing the Stop Ecocide Manifesto.
